Rosso Corporation

Rosso Corporation (株式会社 ロッソ Kabushiki-gaisha Rosso?) was a scale model manufacturer from Japan that specialised in plastic scale model cars, it was founded by the son-in-law of the owner of Fujimi Model in 1992.[1] The company produced scale models for a short period until a fire broke out in their factory, destroying everything in the process including the molding and tooling. As a result, the company never recovered, not even produced another scale model and would soon fell into bankruptcy. [2] Prior to the fire, the last model to be released by the company was the 1:8 scale rendition of the Ferrari 643. As the fire wiped out stocks and few had reached retailers, that led this model to become the rarest of the lot produced by the company, selling for prices within the mid-hundreds US$ on internet auctions such as eBay.

Despite their short production period, their models became notable for being high on detail as well as being well engineered and its build quality being regarded as superior to that of its rivals.[2]. Within the box, the models are typically built on ABS plastic and consists of white metal parts such as the chassis [1] as well as opening doors and bonnet and moving windscreen wipers [3]. Some of their cars come prepainted.

Throughout their short production period, their model range consisted of Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32), Ferrari F40, Honda NSX, Ferrari 512TR, Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) and the Ferrari 642 & 643 F1 cars, produced in varying scales of 1:43, 1:24, 1/43, 1:12 and 1:8. [1]
